 In May of 2003, the Hemingford community began collecting funds for a new
swimming pool. They have hosted a variety of fund raising events including
partnering with the American Red Cross for an auction, showing a WW II movie and
selling bracelets. The Hemingford Cooperative Telephone Company created a
challenge -- matching fun and individuals, clubs and organizations alike have
been very generous in their support of the new pool. Of particular note was Hans
Hansen's selfless donation of birthday money he received totaling $267! To date,
BBDC has sent $68,093.09 to the Nebraska Community Foundation to be held in an
account for the Hemingford Swimming Pool project, helping build the new pool for
the Hemingford Community. The pool is now up and operating.
